The Chippendale school runs different levels of woodworking design and making courses – from our one-week introductory course, to our one-month intermediate course and nine-month professional course.
We are now to introduce a number of one-week complementary courses that are intended to teach skills ancillary to furniture design and making, while still being relevant to woodworkers and non-woodworkers alike.
Details of all the courses will be announced in due course, but we are pleased to now introduce the first of our complementary courses.
Upholstery: Victoria Meacham
5th – 9th August 2019 (Tuition fees – £500)
Our one-week upholstery course will be taught by Victoria Meacham, an experienced teacher and a member of the Association of Master Upholsters & Soft Furnishers.
Victoria has an HNC/HND in furniture construction and design and is also a graduate of the Chippendale school’s professional course.
She runs VM Furnishing, an upholstery business which combines teaching upholstery and furniture upcycling, with domestic and contract upholstery and furniture design projects, working with interior designers and the public.
She has taught upholstery to private individuals and in group workshops, including working for Edinburgh City Council’s adult education program.
The course will cover the basics of traditional and modern upholstery from horse hair to foam, and all tools and sundries will be supplied. If you have a chair or footstool that you’d like to work on, do please bring that with you. Otherwise, the school will provide a frame on which to learn.
Our upholstery course will run from 5th to 9th August and, because places are limited, early booking is advised.
Our website will shortly be updated with a downloadable booking form. However, to register your interest and to receive a booking form, please email us at info@chippendale.co.uk
