A spirit of enterprise

Ruaraidh Stewart, from Aberdeenshire, is a student who displays a great deal of enterprise.

A former soldier with the Black Watch (3 Scots) who saw service in Afghanistan, Ruaraidh is nothing if not resourceful.

He’s managing to combine his studies at the Chippendale school in parallel with making two monumental wardrobes for a customer in Edinburgh.

He had advertised locally and won a small piece of business restoring an old mirror.

However, the customer was so pleased she commissioned him to make two large wardrobes to fit around a chimney breast in her bedroom.

It’s taken Ruaraidh a month to complete the project, using oak veneer over MDF, and the wardrobes are designed for easy disassembly – making transport into Edinburgh very easy.

He intends to move into incubation space at the school after graduation, and set up his own business, The Georgian Kitchen Company.
