[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Chippendale school is delighted to be announcing dates for our next weekend woodturning courses.
These courses, only introduced earlier this year, have proved extremely popular.
They are designed for complete novices and complement our other woodworking courses.
These are our one-week introductory course, one-month intermediate course, and nine-month professional course.
But we do recommend that you make your application quickly as we are only accepting four students at a time on our woodturning weekends.
This gives students as much hands-on practice as possible and the maximum of one-to-one tuition.
The weekends are designed to give students a first experience of woodworking, with a focus on woodturning and round joinery.
But, importantly, they are also accessible for anyone and everyone. So, you don’t need to have had any woodworking experience.
The weekend course is taught by Adam Stone, the school’s woodturning specialist, and himself a graduate from our professional course.
Confidence
Another useful feature of our woodturning course is that they’ve been structured so that students can then turn their hands to other woodworking projects.
It’s about instilling confidence, making wooden pieces that they can take away with them and, we hope, firing woodworking enthusiasm.
Over the weekend, students will make a stool or plant stand, with a wooden turned top and three legs
They’ll also learn how to work a lathe and be introduced to a wide range of different tools and techniques.
In addition, students will learn how to make tenons and tapered legs, and how to sand and finish on the lathe.
Our woodturning courses will run over two weekends this November:
9th – 10th November
23rd -24th November
Fees
The fee for each short course is £400, with a £100 deposit payable to secure your place. The balance is then payable one month before the start of the course, and fully covers tuition and materials.
