Last week we introduced the first of our summer short courses, a five-day upholstery masterclass.
This week we’re introducing a series of two-day woodturning weekends.
These fun and informative weekends will be our most accessible course to give students a first point of access into woodworking, with a focus on woodturning and round joinery.
It will be taught by Adam Stone, the school’s woodturning specialist, who is pictured above.
It’s also designed to be scalable, so that students can then apply their skills to a variety of other projects.
During the weekend, students will make a stool or plant stand, with a wooden turned top and three legs
Students will also learn how to work a lathe whilst being introduced to a wide range of different tools and techniques.
In addition, they’ll learn how to make tenons, tapered legs, sand and finish on the lathe – and, if they master those skills, they’ll also have an opportunity to turn a bowl.
Our woodturning courses will run over a number of weekends this summer:
6th – 7th July
20th – 21st July
3rd – 4th August
17th – 18th August
Early booking is advised as each course has a maximum of only 4 students.
Fees
The fee for each short course is £300, with a £100 deposit payable to secure your place, the balance of the fees is then payable one month before the start of the course.
This covers your tuition and materials.
