Timothy Low from Singapore is a veteran of the oil industry, having spent the last ten years working offshore.
His itinerant profession took him across the world from South America to Asia and Africa.
But with the global downturn in the oil sector, it was time to think about a new profession – and one that could allow him to settle down in one place with his wife.
Woodworking has always been an interest of Timothy’s, so it wasn’t too difficult a decision to enrol at the Chippendale school.
His plan is to return to Singapore and set up his own business. He believes that learning furniture design from a European perspective will give him real insight into designing quality furniture for an Asian market.
That blend of East and West, and an absolute focus on quality, will be the key elements to set him on a new and successful career.
