Brian London, originally from North Carolina, takes inspiration from classic furniture design.
His first piece was a Queen Anne-inspired gate-leg, drop-leaf table that will be a gift to his daughter.
His second project, a gift to his wife. Is a Thomas Chippendale-inspired “low boy” made from sycamore with hand-carved ball-and-claw feet.
Brian is a former Marine officer who then worked as a police officer, then for the Federal government for over 30 years as a supervisory Treasury agent and, later, Homeland Security. He was also Executive Director of INTERPOL in Lyon, France.
His third project is also Chippendale-inspired, a carved sycamore chair stained with several coats of walnut water stain.
It’s a beautiful piece of furniture that he’ll now take back to his home in western France.
At the start of the course, Brian’s aim was to complete a table, chair and cabinet – a mission that has been accomplished with a great deal of style and craftsmanship.
