That means having the best tutors on our staff and, throughout the year, bringing in world-class experts to add a new dimension to the learning experience.
This week we’re delighted to welcome Scott Grove, the renowned American artist and craftsman, whose work is a part of, among others, the permanent collection in the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York and the collections of Bausch & Lomb, Kodak, Saatchi & Saatchi Roland, and the University of Rochester.
For over thirty years, Scott has pioneered new methods in his approach to artistic expression and furniture design, and his pieces are often a combination of uniquely carved textures, radiant veneers and finishes.
Scott, who has been a visiting tutor at the Chippendale school for six years, is here to teach the intricacies of veneering and marquetry – using both traditional techniques and the latest technologies.

Scott has won numerous awards including the Veneer Tech Craftsman’s Challenge Award for two of his works, an unprecedented achievement. He also won a prestigious Napkin Sketch Award from the American Institute of Architects sponsored by Architectural Record Magazine and a DuPont Award for Innovative Use of Material.
Scott is also the author of a number of books including his most recent, Advanced Veneering and Alternative Techniques, which highlights some of his veneering techniques. He also writes for a variety of national publications.
