The Chippendale International School of Furniture is proud to celebrate a landmark year with its 40th Graduate Exhibition & Fine Furniture Sale, taking place from Thursday, 12 June to Saturday, 14 June 2025. This milestone event marks four decades of excellence in furniture design and making at the school’s home in East Lothian.
Founded in 1985 by Anselm Fraser, the school has grown into a globally recognised school for fine woodworking. Now under the leadership of his son, Principal Tom Fraser, Chippendale School continues to champion teaching traditional techniques with contemporary design, welcoming students from all over the world.
The annual exhibition offers a rare chance to explore and purchase outstanding handcrafted furniture from this year’s graduating cohort of the nine-month Professional Course. The 2024/25 cohort brings together 30 students from around the globe, including Brazil, Hawaii, Germany, the Dominican Republic, France, Canada, and the UK—each with their own design voice and story.
A Message from Our Founder and Principal
Principal Tom Fraser has said, “Our 40th exhibition is both a celebration of this year’s talented graduates and a tribute to the generations of woodworkers who have come before them. Each piece on display is a reflection of the dedication, creativity, and skill that define our school.”
Founder Anselm Fraser added, “When I started the school 40 years ago, my dream was to create a place where creativity could thrive. It’s been a joy to see that vision realised year after year in such remarkable ways.”
What to Expect
Visitors can explore and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by this year’s graduates, all while enjoying refreshments from local favourites Steampunk Coffee (North Berwick) and The Big Blu Artisan Pizza (Dunbar).
