Honour for Honor

Honor Dalrymple, from East Lothian, has taken second place in our bedside cabinet competition, as chosen by the school’s teaching staff.

Her four-leg pine cabinet veneered in rosewood, is a beautifully-constructed piece of furniture that perfectly balances form and function.

It’s the first piece of furniture we ask all students to make during their first term as it gives them practical experience on, for example, the domino machine, as well as the skills to make tenon and dovetail joints.

Honor is a qualified civil engineer who previously worked as a structural engineer before enrolling at the Chippendale school.

“The early part of the course focuses on the safe use of machinery and some basic skills, and making a bedside cabinet is an ideal first project,” said Anselm Fraser, school principal.
