Most of our students, whether they come to us from school, college or for a second career, have long had furniture design at the back of their minds.
But, like any passion, it sometimes takes a few years before the time seems right to pursue that woodworking dream.
That’s true of Stephen Barr, originally from Northern Ireland, who is completing a short course at the school this week, and who is already signed up for our immersive course beginning in October 2018.
Although Stephen had already made the decision to enrol on our 30-week professional course, our one week “taster” courses provide an opportunity to see if woodworking really is for you.
Stephen’s previous career was in IT consultancy, and he started his own company in Edinburgh – latterly employing some 75 people.
With the company now sold, Stephen is able to return to an original ambition – to train as a furniture designer and, after his course at the Chippendale school, to set up in business for himself.
One further advantage of undertaking a one-week “taster” course is that, should you decide to enrol for our full-time course, the cost of your short course is refundable in full.
So if you think that woodworking might be in your blood, why not think about one of our short courses? Who knows, but it might just change your life!
