We run one-week woodworking ‘taster’ courses several times a year, called The Chippendale Experience Course. These short courses are run over a five-day period, Monday to Friday – and are very intensive – and a lot of fun! The course introduces students to a whole range of woodworking skills and techniques including:
• A general introduction to woodworking, turning, cutting, sawing and sanding – and the machines involved.
•How to use Japanese wooden nails and a domino jointing machine.
•How to make a wooden hinge, a small wooden box, and how to make and upholster a small wooden stool.
•An introduction to oil finishes, Shellac and French polish
• Pyrography and wood art.
Our short courses provide an opportunity for you to try your hand at woodworking and help you decide whether signing up for a full-time furniture design course is the right choice for you. Students who complete a short course and then sign up for the full-time course have the cost of the short course fully-deducted from the full-time course fees.
During 2018, short course dates are:
25th to 29th June 2018
17th to 21st September 2018
17th to 21st December 2018
We take a maximum of ten students onto each Short Course so, if you would like to join us, please click on the button below to fill in the application form stating which of the above short courses you would like to attend.
Fees
The fee for each short course is £850 (with a £200 deposit payable to secure your place, with the balance payable one month before the start of the course).
