The stars and stripes came to East Lothian to celebrate America’s Thanksgiving Day.
Students and staff at the Chippendale International School of Furniture tucked into mince pies and pumpkin pies to celebrate the occasion.
It was a taste of home for the three US students at the school this year – from left to right, Brian London from North Carolina, John Grillo from Colorado and Vanessa Johnston from Washington State.
Other students at the school this year are from the UK, Singapore, India, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Trinidad & Tobago, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, and, for the first time in the school’s thirty year history, the Falkland Islands.
Thanksgiving Day is celebrated every year in the USA on the fourth Thursday in November, this year falling on the 23rd.
It originated as a harvest festival and has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, and celebrated as a federal holiday every year since 1863.
