When Honor Dalrymple starts to make her own furniture, you can be sure of one thing: it absolutely won’t fall apart!
She studied civil engineering at the University of Bristol and then worked in London as a structural engineer.
However, for her, it was sometimes a frustrating profession, with structural engineers only being required to work on aspects of a project – rather than from start to finish.
But her training has given her particular practical and design skills – for example, being able to visualise in 3D, understanding structure, and the strength and limitations of materials.
Honor has always been creative and, while in London, undertook a short woodworking course, which set her on a path to the Chippendale school.
Coming to this particular school was an obvious choice…the family home where she grew up is just a couple of miles down the road!
