You can see a selection of photos of our graduating students and the fantastic furniture they’ve created over the last 9 months on our Facebook page. Please feel free to tag and share the photos!
The visitors at the end of year furniture exhibition admired the many outstanding furniture pieces created over the last nine months. Our students’ beautiful creations ranged from Windsor chairs, folding card tables, versatile desks, gilded mirrors and designer coffee tables, to modern long clocks and chaise longue.
Sandy Boyd won the Furniture School’s Best Design Award for his remarkable sycamore and mahogany lighthouse clock and boat-inspired coffee table. Susan Harper won Student of the Year Award for ‘accuracy and controlled speed of construction’ reflected in her walnut lady’s chest of drawers, oak sideboard and L-shaped computer desk. The awards were voted on by the tutors.
Like many hundreds of the 800 or so exhibition visitors, Ulrich Loening, an important national lecturer on all things to do with trees who lectures our students on timber technology, was very impressed by all the students’ work:
“Just to congratulate everyone on the annual exibition! I looked round most of it on the Monday, and found the quality and enthusiasm as great as ever. Well done all!
“With best wishes to all students for their future involvement with timber.”
Congratulations from everyone at the Chippendale International School of Furniture to all our students on a very successful year!
